THEATER IN THE COMMUNITY
The Theater in the Community (TIC) Program at ELAC is a
creative way to use theater to engage your community and neighborhood. The core
of the Theater in the Community Program is ELAC
Storytheater, a touring theater troupe that performs for elementary
schools, senior centers and community events. Storytheater produces original plays that entertain but carry a
strong social message. Students participate in creative drama workshops at
Robert Hill Elementary School and can volunteer for performances and special
events at Maravilla Community Service Center.
Goals & Oportunities
The TIC Certificate prepares students for a career as a teaching artist in schools and daycare centers in the community or to enter the recreation, health or social service industry. With a TIC Certificate the student will achieve the practical experience and theoretical background to produce theatrical educational experiences for children, older adults and under served communities. The certificate is excellent preparation for a bachelor degree in theater education
